A network of repositories for self-report measures, built by researchers.

Repositories

Each repository is an independently maintained collection for one research area.

RelaScale is a searchable database of psychological measures and constructs for relationship researchers.

Introducing ManyScale

Psychology measurement lacks standardization — and standardizing our measures starts with documenting them. Cataloguing the field's self-report measures is a crucial step toward reducing measurement proliferation, improving consistency across studies, and making our science more cumulative.

ManyScale is a network of repositories for self-report measures, each covering one subfield within psychology. Building repositories by subfield keeps each one manageable in scope — maintained by researchers embedded in that community who know and use the measures firsthand.

ManyScale is a free and open-source project. Right now, we are looking for collaborators who are interested in leading repositories in their respective subfields. We can give you the tools to help you make a ManyScale for your research area. For a plug-and-play option, we can create the repository on our server (you just add and maintain the measures). Alternatively, we can share the code so you can create your own self-hosted version. If you are interested in hosting a repository for your research area, please get in touch.

Why Collect Measures?

Measurement standardization is an important part of a mature science.

ManyScale answers recent calls for the discipline of psychology to document and standardize its measures.[1][2] By curating a publicly available collection of measures for the field of relationship science, we hope that ManyScale can help to:

  1. improve measurement consistency across studies
  2. combat the proliferation of constructs and measures
  3. facilitate meta-scientific projects
  4. encourage the iterative improvement of the field’s measures

Ultimately, the goal of ManyScale is to help make psychological research more cumulative.
